Tulsa Public Schools' test scores show mixed results

The Academic Performance Index is a school rating system of zero to 1,500 points that was created to comply with the federal No Child Left Behind Act. In 2009-10, the bar for schools' API scores in both reading and math was raised. Oklahoma's increased test standards have made it much tougher for students in grades 3-8 to be considered proficient in reading and math. Every school is required to make "adequate yearly progress" - or AYP - in reading and math test scores and have at least 95 percent of students take standardized tests.
