Senate panel considers separate oversight for NC charter schools
RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina legislators are considering greater separation between taxpayer-funded charter schools and the local or state boards of education which run the rest of the state's 2,500 public schools, making them more aggressive competitors for students and the money that follows.
