Fewer youths meet goals

The federal government released its latest No Child Left Behind Report Cards for local schools on Jan. 31, but Tim Powers, assistant superintendent for the Wichita Falls Independent School District, said Tuesday he doesn't "make a big deal about it one way or the other" because federal standards are not consistent from state to state. According to the federal data, the general theme was that WFISD schools turned out fewer students who met its standards in 2010 compared with 2009 and fewer than its statewide peers.
