Pittsburgh schools could let go more than 100 on Wednesday
The next painful chapter of cost-cutting within Pittsburgh Public Schools could start in days as officials prepare to furlough up to 38 teachers and to layoff or furlough as many as 68 other employees. The exact numbers are being finalized and could change as officials receive new information about retirements and resignations, district spokeswoman Ebony Pugh said Friday. Some certified staff facing a job loss could be placed in vacant district positions.
