NJ denies charter expansions. Is it a sign of growing NJEA, or local schools opposition?

Charter schools are a safe space for Abel Escobar, a "timid" ninth-grader who worries that he will have to attend his local public high school in Trenton next year, his mother said. His charter school's application to expand beyond the ninth grade was rejected alongside eight others by the state Department of Education last month, a move that has upset parents, including Escobar's mother Martha Inestroza.
