Lotus appeals charters denial

LONGMONT Organizers of the Lotus School for Excellence at Longmont are appealing the St. Vrain Valley School Districts decision to deny the charter schools application. The Board of Education unanimously voted Dec. 8 to deny the groups request to open a charter school in LifeBridge Christian Church on Colo. Highway 66. They cited a lack of evidence of community support and an unrealistic budget as reasons. The basis for this appeal is that the district denied the application for insufficient reasons ... and that the Lotus School for Excellence in Longmont would be in the best interest of the pupils, the district or the community, attorney Jeffrey DiTolla wrote in the notice of appeal filed Dec. 29, within 30 days of the school boards denial, as required by law.
