Impending Battle for AL Ed Funds

Bigger class sizes and fewer working days for teachers could be in the works as a remedy to fill the projected shortfalls in the state's 2012 education budget. The state Department of Education is asking for a 5.6 percent increase to make up for just a portion of the federal stimulus dollars public schools are going to lose after this year and to pay back money the state borrowed to pay for the replacement of school buses.
