Birmingham teachers union plans mass sickout as teachers, parents worry about COVID safety
The potential “sickout,” as it’s being called, comes after a large number of employee absences last week due to the virus. The district reported a record-high 409 positive cases to the Alabama Department of Public Health on Jan. 20, which accounts for about 2% of staff and students.
